On the occasion of International Volunteer Day, which is celebrated on December 5 around the world, the Ministry of the Interior held an emotional flag ceremony in which it delivered a national flag to each of the 7 organizations of society. civilians distinguished on this occasion for being promoters in some way of volunteering in Mexico. On the esplanade of her office in the streets of Bucareli, her bodyguards protested to honor and respect her. The institutions that received a flag are, in alphabetical order: AIESEC, which recently held its meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Relations, stands out for promoting youth volunteering and closely linking it to international exchange and youth entrepreneurship; the Mexican Volunteer Alliance, which is an association of members who identify themselves with promoting volunteerism in all its expressions: Corporate Volunteering, civil organizations, universities, youth, faith communities, etc.; Youth Integration Centers, an extraordinary movement that instills voluntary service focused on addiction prevention; the Center for Research and Studies on Civil Society, which has dedicated talent and efforts to researching generosity in Mexico that is also manifested in voluntary service; Junior Achievement México, which links various volunteer programs with companies and develops youth projects that include voluntary service; Más Ciudadanía that correctly identifies that getting involved in volunteer service is a way of being a citizen every day and, UN Volunteers Mexico where the experience of its members strengthens alliances between volunteers, governments and society in general.
Montserrat Bravo Huerta, who is a New Zealand WhatsApp Number collaborator of the Ministry of the Interior and member of the Volunteers for Mexico Platform, proposed to her authorities to carry out this act as part of the celebrations that have taken place in recent days to commemorate and recognize the volunteers on the occasion of your international day. As is known, on December 3, the “5D Party” was held on the esplanade known as “Las Islas” of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It had the participation of several civil society organizations that devised a Rally whose theme was the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Every year the “5D Party” movement grows and adds enthusiasm. The highest house of study, headquarters of this event, is structuring its volunteer work that is very broad and varied since it involves both preparatory schools, faculties, research centers and all the museums that depend on the UNAM. The celebrations will continue throughout this week but the Mexican Volunteer Alliance published this message to all volunteers in Mexico: To all people who provide volunteer service: Gibran Kahlil Gibran, that extraordinary Lebanese humanist, pointed it out well: “You give little when you give your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you really give.” We congratulate you on this day and urge you to continue with that spirit of service, since our country requires following the example that you, with your thoughts and daily actions, give us. With your work in favor of your neighbor, you enhance the dignity of people and expand the meaning of homeland as belonging to the human race. We appreciate your solidarity and altruistic acts as they inspire other people to get involved in this fabulous world of volunteering. The Secretary of the organization pointed out that this has been a wonderful end to the year regarding volunteer service since they have published several works on volunteering in Mexico and others are coming that will see the light in the first months of 2017. In particular, we will have to follow the clue to the one that describes the Mountain Promoters volunteers of the Cinco Panes y Dos Peses civil association, since its characteristics make it special and an example to follow in terms of civil protection.
